Our Story
A house with a century of stories
The cafe takes its name from the house it calls home. "Valetta" was built in 1911, directly opposite Queens Park on Margaret Street, and the heritage-listed home still holds many of its original design elements — pressed-metal ceilings, stained-glass windows and chandeliers — surrounded by a lush garden and courtyard.
The house has worn many faces over the years, from an antiques gallery to a guest house, before becoming the cafe Toowoomba gathers in today. Dine inside the beautiful heritage rooms, or outside in the manicured gardens — on the verandah, or beneath the vine-covered pergola by the fountain, overlooking the park.
It is a setting guests remember: Australian Traveller named Cafe Valetta among the 11 Best Cafes in Toowoomba, and regulars have been celebrating their special occasions here for well over a decade.
